Since 2016, Dr. Carl Bazan has worked as a clinical research associate at Precision for Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. Outside of his work as a researcher, Dr. Carl Bazan pursues a personal interest in electric vehicles.

After experiencing a 5-percent sales drop from 2014 to 2015, the market for electric vehicles (EV) appears to be strong worldwide. According to the most recent numbers, EV sales in the United States jumped 36 percent in 2016. By the end of 2016, nearly 160,000 electric vehicles had been sold nationwide, and four companies – Tesla, Chevrolet, Nissan, and Ford – had EV models that sold more than 10,000 units each.

Globally, EV sales were even stronger in 2016. The year saw worldwide sales reach more than 777,000 vehicles, which represented a 41-percent increase over 2015. In addition to increased consumer consciousness, the growth in EV sales can be contributed to several factors, including financial incentives, improved performance, and the expansion of charging infrastructure.
